A fisherman working with cormorants at night creates a striking cultural photograph built around reflection, silhouette, and the relationship between people, birds, and water. Its darker tonal range gives it a very different presence from the landscape and wildlife pieces in the collection.
Cormorant fishing is a long-standing fishing technique in parts of China in which trained birds dive for fish and return to the fisher. The practice is documented in Chinese art and historical research and continues today in some places as both a living tradition and a cultural presentation for visitors. The earlier copy’s “spans eons” language has been replaced with this more defensible description.
Available in canvas and framed cotton-paper formats in multiple sizes.
